J. Gregory Jones headshot

Dr. Jones was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and raised in small towns across Georgia and Florida. He earned his undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Florida before receiving his medical degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville. He completed his internship in Internal Medicine at the University of Alabama. 

In 1979, Dr. Jones began serving in the U.S. Air Force as a flight surgeon, spending four years stationed in Guam and Charleston. A licensed, instrument-rated pilot, his passion for aviation complemented his dedication to precision in medicine. 

Dr. Jones started his Ophthalmology residency at the Eye Foundation Hospital in Birmingham in 1983. In 1986, he relocated to Macon to continue the legacy of Dr. John O. Martin’s established ophthalmology practice. In 2024, that practice became part of Eyesight Associates, where Dr. Jones continues to care for patients today. 

With decades of experience, Dr. Jones is known for his steady expertise, compassionate care, and commitment to serving the Macon community. He and his wife Jenny have five children and nine grandchildren. Outside of the office, Dr. Jones enjoys time with his family, church activities, flying, and good music.
