Patients seeking vision correction now have an exciting new option: Visian ICL™, an implantable contact lens. Unlike traditional contact lenses that are placed on the surface of the eye, Visian ICL™ is surgically placed inside the eye – an optimized vision correction experience that’s sharper, clearer, more vivid, and has greater depth and dimension. Moreover, distortions such as glare, halos, and poor night vision are proven far less common with Visian ICL than with LASIK.

The simple implantation procedure is performed on an outpatient basis by ophthalmologists who are certified in the Visian ICL™ procedure. Once in place, the lens stays there indefinitely and should require no maintenance. Except for better vision and an annual checkup, the patient will forget the lens is even there.

Visian ICL™ is made of an advanced technology lens material called Collamer® which provides unique optical performance and unparalleled quality of vision. A highly biocompatible lens material, Collamer® works with the body’s natural chemistry, allowing it to remain in the eye permanently. What’s more, the lens material actually blocks UV rays from entering the eye. This unique “UV blocking feature” helps protect against the possible damage to the retina caused by everyday exposure to sunlight.
